A big abdomen is not only ugly but it also dangerous as it ups the risk of a host of diseases. A person may be otherwise slim but have visceral fat; one does not need to be overweight to have surplus visceral fat. Though half of the overall population has it, people are still unaware of its deadliness.
Why You Need To Have A Flat Belly?
- If you do not have a flat belly these are the diseases you have to confront: insulin resistance, “bad” LDL cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, high blood sugar level—all these means greater risk of heart disease, diabetes and stroke.
- However, as we age we tend to store fat around our abdomen because of our hormones. This fat can wreck havoc in our circulation system and infiltrate in our livers (which removes toxins). We have to take care of what we eat in order to save ourselves from visceral fat.
- The risk of breast cancer and colon cancer is raised because of visceral fat. The American Institute of Cancer Research believes that if a waist measures greater than 37 inches for men or 31.5 inches for women then it means danger. The institute adds that reports that the risk of colorectal cancer increases by 5% for every extra inch.
A flat belly should be maintained by all to keep all these deadly diseases at bay. People who are in their mid life has to take extra care to achieve it, but it will be worthwhile.
