Posted on August 12, 2009 in Latest News

Hydroxycut is the weight loss product manufactured by lovate Health Sciences. This product is known to promote weight loss by increasing the metabolism and decreasing the hunger cravings. Studies on mice proved that hydroxycut may help in weight loss. However, hydroxycut has been associated with liver damage and was recalled from the market.

How Does Hydroxycut Promote Weight Loss:
Hydroxycut contains hydroxycitric acid which helps in slowing down hunger cravings and slows down the conversion of fat. Hydroxycitric acid is similar to Citrate, which occurs naturally in the body. Citrate slows down conversion of fat. In the same way, HCA was found to slow down the enzyme which converts carbohydrates into fatty acids.

HCA also stimulates the liver to `produce sugar, which in turn helps to control hunger cravings. Thus, HCA slows down the fat conversion and gives a feeling of fulness, which can help in overall weight loss.

In spite of the studies on mice which showed positive results for hydroxycut, it was found that these studies used 10 to 25 times more HCA when compared to human supplements. This might be the reason why hydroxycut might not be as good in humans.

On May 1, 2009 FDA warned the consumers to stop using the hydroxycut products as they were linked to liver damage. The company has recalled its products. However, the new formula is back in the stores. In spite of the claims made by various supplements of weight loss, they may have unpleasant side-effects. It is much better to achieve weight loss thorough healthy diet and exercise.
