Oolong tea is a tea which is native to China. It is extracted from the plant Camella sinesis evergreen – the same plant from which green tea, black tea and white tea are derived. The differences between these teas is that Oolong tea is semi-fermented, green tea is unfermented. Oolong tea has gained popularity as a weight loss product. Studies show that oolong tea increases the metabolism and fat oxidation, thereby helping in achieving weight loss.

How Does Oolong tea help in Weight Loss?
Oolong tea contains compounds known as polyphenols. Polyphenols cause the body to burn more calories, which can help in weight loss. Oolong tea is supposed to contain more polyphenols than green tea. This might be the reason why oolong tea might be more helpful in overcoming obesity than green tea.

Oolong tea also contains caffeine, a stimulant which is believed to help in increasing the energy expenditure. Several studies show that oolong tea also boosts the metabolism, helping you to burn more calories.

In spite of the weight loss benefits of oolong tea, drinking just the tea would not be much beneficial. Combining exercise, healthy diet and drinking oolong tea can be beneficial in achieving weight loss.

To reap the benefits of oolong tea, buy pure oolong tea and drink it hot or cold. You can even drink it when you have hunger cravings. Drinking oolong tea is not a sure shot way to overcome obesity, but combining the tea with diet and exercise can help you to achieve weight loss.
