Digestive Enzymes and Weight Loss

Digestive enzymes are made up of organic protein molecules. They help in the digestion process and in breaking down food, thus helping in losing weight. There is a small link between supplemental digestive enzymes and weight loss. They help break downcarbohydrates, proteins and fats into simpler digestible forms, thus aiding in weight loss. This article discusses some weight loss enzymes.

Types of Digestive Enzymes and Weight Loss

Protease

Protease is the collective name for many enzymes that are used to break down proteins. It helps in building lean muscle, lowering cholesterol levels and burning fats in the body.To restore energy, unused protease is used by the body to eliminate foreign bodies.

Lipase

Lipase breaks down dietary fat into fatty acids with the help of bile.  As we age, the pancreas produces less of this enzyme. This leads to deficiencies which facilitates the aging process. Fats that aren’t broken down efficiently are stored easier into body fat.

Amylase

Amylase is responsible for breaking down the carbohydrates present in food. Amylase also breaks down complex sugars such as lactase and sucrose. Carbohydrates are broken down to supply the body with energy. Excessive carbohydrate intake will result in stored body fat.

However, if you want to lose weight with the help of digestive enzymes then you must also follow a proper diet plan. It is recommended to consult a physician before you opt for digestive enzymes for weight loss.
