Research demonstrates that 97 percent of women and 68 percent of men experience food cravings. Most of the time, these cravings are for sugary or fatty junk foods. Consumption of junk food is a major contributor to the obesity epidemic in the United States. By learning a few tricks to stop your cravings, you can save calories and help stop obesity in its tracks.

1. Brisk Walking

Walking is the simplest form of exercise. A brisk 15 to 30 minute walk releases chemicals in your brain that inhibit food cravings. Because walking also burns calories, you’ll be saving calories by eliminating food cravings as well as burning calories from the exercise.

2. Social Contacts

Your physical, mental and emotional well-being is related to the food you eat. Stress and depression can increase the craving for unhealthy foods. This undesirable state of mind can be lessened by increasing interaction with your loved ones.

3. Eat Small Meals

Eating often can help you avoid strong feelings of hunger between meals. Without an urgent sense of hunger, you may be less likely to snack on inappropriate foods or overeat at meal time.
