Watch what you eat? You’re not the only one. Be a role model for your kids. As a family, get involved with everyone in making healthier food choices, managing portion size, and getting active together.
Parents can foster lifelong healthy eating habits in their children by providing a variety of healthy foods in the home, limiting junk food and sugary drinks, and being role models for healthy eating.
Make sure your child does not eat too much ‘fast’ food such as wheat products, white bread, non-whole grain pasta, white rice, crackers, cereals, and non-whole wheat pizzas. Also avoid giving them foods containing refined sugars.
Do not force your child to eat more when they say that they are full. Also, do not force them to eat when they are not hungry.
Your child must exercise every day. You can help your child by finding new activities they enjoy, and by building physical activity into family life. Most children love running around a park or playing in a playground. So, accompany them to keep them happy and fit.
